As a photographer it’s sometimes hard to keep up with photos taken for your personal life. We get distracted [rightfully so!] by the photos we take for other people’s special days and events ours just fall by the wayside. A lot of the time they figuratively collect dust on our hard drives, long forgotten and ignored. My photos are no different, these photos probably would have been long forgotten had I not uploaded them into my blog immediately. Unfortunately, they collected that metaphorical dust waiting for me to write about them. I’ll save them from being forgotten! Hooray!

About a month ago Jake and I went to the Sequoia National Forest to photograph the Perseid Meteor Shower. It was a short trip, and, despite me being the worst packer ever, it went really well. See, I forgot almost everything at home. I left for the weekend with only a pair of shorts and the skirt I wore on the drive. Needless to say, the shower and change of clothes I got when I came home were the best of my life.

I feel pretty bad about the above photo. Jake and I climbed up on this log and got down with too much trouble. A rather athletic couple tried the same photo after us and both fell and hurt themselves. People often think I’m not good at the outdoorsy stuff, and rightfully so, much of it I can’t do. I am, however, pretty good at climbing. Pin ThisPin ThisPin ThisPin ThisPin ThisPin ThisPin ThisPin ThisPin ThisPin ThisPin ThisPin ThisPin ThisPin ThisPin ThisPin ThisPin ThisPin ThisPin ThisPin This

I didn’t get any photos of the meteors, but I was able to get some stellar star photos. PUN INTENDED.

    Shadowing Lights - awesome!ReplyCancel

I can’t tell you how excited I am to share Eric and Courtney’s vow renewal with everyone! It is an amazing testament to just how awesome these two people are. See, Eric and Courtney did the traditional wedding 10 years ago in their home state of Georgia. Little did they know they would become travelers, expats, and friends to great people from all other the world. That’s why, for their 10-year vow renewal they decided to give all of their friends and family an excuse to visit Vegas. What better reason than love?

Since Courtney and Eric live over 3,000 miles away I didn’t even get to meet them until the day before the ceremony. In the 117 degree heat of midsummer Vegas, Courtney, Eric, and I met up at their suite to do some getting-ready shots before going to the Neon Museum. Courtney and Eric are so easy going and nice they were pretty much up for anything — they jumped on beds [sorry, Mandalay], they Hadouken’d, Vadered, and even Cavemanned their portrait session and knocked it out of the park like they were naturals.

Pin ThisPin ThisThe next day I met up with Courtney and Eric again for their ceremony, a limo tour of the strip, and their party on the 60th floor of the Mandalay Bay. Courtney and Eric had a small Ceremony at the Little Church of the West and were remarried by Elvis. Afterwards, everyone got into two huge limos and headed out to the Bellagio to watch the fountains before heading back to the Mandalay Bay for an all night party.

So, I’m a couple months behind on blogging, that’s okay right?

I am lucky enough to run Star Thrower Photography, the product of a lifelong dream, as well as associate shoot weddings for The Yodsukars. When they asked me to shoot Matthew & Jennifer’s quaint wedding at The 1909 in May I was so happy. I don’t know what it is about Topanga Canyon but it seems like there are no bad locations up there. Everything has its own little quirks and personality. The 1909 is no different. It is amazing! The white walls and exposed rafters made my heart leap. It was a beautiful location to match a beautiful couple. Matthew and Jennifer’s ceremony was held on the deck of the 1909 with a group of friends and family before everyone headed up the gorgeous wood stairs to the reception.
